Frequently Asked Questions
What is therapeutic massage therapy?
The manipulation of soft tissue, fascia and joints to promote improved physical function, reduce tension or relieve pain. Massage Therapy is administered by a Registered Massage Therapist who is specially trained to treat musculoskeletal conditions such as frozen shoulder, muscle strains, excessive tension, and plantar fasciitis, etc.
What is Spa Massage?
Relaxation massage is smooth, gentle and promotes general feeling of relaxation. This type of massage does not address the connective tissue, like therapeutic massage and cannot be direct billed to insurance.
What is Acupressure and Tui'na Massage?
Experience the benefits of Acupuncture but without the needles! This nourishing, feel-good, and effective treatment combines traditional Chinese massage (Tuina) with pressure points. You can expect to release muscle tension, reduce stress, and target specific meridian/channel systems, which relate to your internal organ function. Specific injuries and health conditions can be addressed as you are supported toward your optimal health. Long strokes, percussive tapping, trigger point release, deep pressure, or lighter energetic work can be included. We may also utilize cupping (a suction technique - kind of like a reverse massage) to move more stubborn stagnations or toxins that are held in the tissue. This treatment can be covered by many extended health packages under "Acupuncture" services.
Do you offer direct billing?
Yes, we can direct bill ONLY for RMT and Acupuncture services through the following insurers:
Pacific Blue Cross, Canada Life, Manulife, Chambers of Commerce, Desjardins, Manion, GroupSource, Johnson, Johnston Group, RWAM, ClaimSecure, Sunlife, and Greenshield. Please also note that if you have 2 insurance providers we are only able to direct bill the primary insurer.
Can I combine benefit providers?
We do our best to offer coordination of benefits and can submit to your primary insurer. If your secondary provider is a different company than your primary you would have to submit the balance to your secondary provider yourself.
Do you accept ICBC or Worksafe claims?
We do not process ICBC or Worksafe claims. You can pay out of pocket and file with your claim adjuster for reimbursement.
Where are you located?
We are located at #140-777 Royal Oak Dr., in Broadmead Village and there is free parking, bike racks and the Royal Oak bus exchange within easy walking distance.
What is your cancellation policy?
We have a strict 24-hour notice for any late cancellations or changes. Late cancellations incur a 100% fee. Your appointment is exclusive to you, a late cancellation or missed appointment is a loss of income for your therapist and it impacts our ability to stay in business, we appreciate your consideration in this regard.
I had to fill out quite a few forms after booking my first appointment, what is their purpose?
Massage therapy is a regulated profession in Canada and B.C., as such we are required to maintain records of all our patient interactions, treatments and consents. This information is protected by the Personal Information Protection Act thus they are held in strict confidence. No information is released without the patient's consent.
